Ray-Ban Stories and Ray-Ban Meta are smart glasses launched in partnership between Meta and EssilorLuxottica.
You can use these smart glasses with some Meta platforms, including WhatsApp.
How to link WhatsApp
Use the Meta View app to connect Ray-Ban Stories and Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses to WhatsApp on your phone. Full details are available on the Meta Hulpcentrum.
Ray-Ban Verhalen
You can use the hands-free voice commands on Ray-Ban Stories to send and reply to messages and to decline and answer calls.
The voice commands can also announce when you receive messages and read them out loud in English, French and Italian.
You can activate voice commands by saying “Hey Facebook” and speaking your command.
For example, “Hey Facebook, send a message to Anna on WhatsApp.”
Ray-Ban Meta
You can complete even more actions with Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.
You can use hands-free voice commands to send and reply to messages and to decline and answer calls. You can also use it to share photos.
Voice commands can also announce when you receive messages and read them out loud in English, French and Italian.
You can activate voice commands by saying “Hey Meta” and speaking your command.
For example, “Hey Meta, send a photo to John on WhatsApp.”
You can also share your view from your glasses camera during a WhatsApp audio or video call. You can do this by double tapping the physical capture button on glasses during a call.
You can use this feature even if you haven’t linked WhatsApp in the Meta View app. To enable sharing your view, tap the glasses icon during your next video call for instructions.

When you use WhatsApp on Ray-Ban Stories or Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, your calls and personal messages are secured with end-to-end encryption. To protect your privacy, as soon as it’s identified that you’re sending a message or making a call, audio content is not sent to Meta servers. Various factors can affect accuracy, such as the clarity of your voice command that indicates the start of a message. No one outside of your chats, not even WhatsApp or Meta, can read or listen to them.

Link WhatsApp to Ray-Ban Meta
- Open the Meta View app on your phone.
- Tik op Settings.

- Or tap your glasses, then tap Bellen en berichten sturen.
- Tik op Maak verbinding met naast WhatsApp.
Unlink WhatsApp from Meta View on Ray-Ban Meta

Send a text-based message
- Say “Hey Meta, send a message to [name] on WhatsApp”.
- Listen and confirm with Meta Assistant that you’ve selected the correct person.
- Say the message that you want to send.
- Opmerking: Your device will read your message back to you.
- Say “Yes”, “No”, or “Cancel”.
Send and receive a voice messages

Set up message announcement and read out
You can use Meta Assistant to announce who’s messaging you and to read out your messages.
- Open the Meta View app on your phone.
- Tap your profile photo.
- Tik op Bellen en berichten sturen.
- Or tap your glasses, then tap Bellen en berichten sturen.
- Tik op WhatsApp, then turn Announce messages of Read out messages on or off.
Opmerking:
- If you don’t hear message announcements when the toggle is on, make sure you’ve provided Bluetooth permission in your phone’s settings.
- If you turn Read out messages on, you’ll still need to say “Hey Meta, play message” to play voice messages.

Respect people’s preferences
Not everyone loves being photographed. Stop recording if anyone expresses that they would rather opt out, and be particularly mindful of others before going live.
Power off in private spaces
Turn off your glasses in sensitive spaces such as the doctor’s surgery, changing room, public toilets, school or place of worship.
Let that capture LED light shine
Show others how the capture LED works so they know when you’re recording. If the capture LED is covered, you’ll be notified to clear it before taking a photo or video or going live.
Be a good community member
Obey the law. Don’t use your glasses to engage in harmful activities such as harassment, infringing on privacy rights or capturing sensitive information such as pin codes.
Keep your eyes on the road
Use caution when operating a motor vehicle while wearing glasses, stay focused on driving.
Show others when you’re capturing
Be respectful of people nearby. Use your voice or a clear gesture when controlling your glasses to let them know that you’re about to capture, particularly before going live.

Yes! The ultra-wide 12 MP camera on Ray-Ban Meta glasses takes high-quality photos and records videos for up to 3 minutes. The LED privacy light on your AI glasses lets people know when you’re taking a photo or capturing video to ensure others’ privacy is respected (if the LED is covered up, the camera will not function). All photos and videos are imported to your smartphone via the Meta AI app.

You can easily take photos and videos with Ray-Ban Meta glasses. To take a picture, press the capture button on your glasses frame or use voice controls (“Hey Meta, take a photo”). For video, press and hold the capture button or say “Hey Meta, take a video”. When you take a photo or video, the capture LED light activates to indicate to those around you that you may be recording. The camera on your glasses automatically adjusts to your environment for consistently high-quality photo and video captures.
How can I use Meta live translation?
Here’s how to start live translation:
- Just say “Hey Meta, start live translation”. You can select the language in the Meta AI app.
- You can also start live translation from the Meta AI app by tapping the bottom left of the screen:
- Tap Translate.
- Tap to select the languages that you want to translate.
- The first time you use live translations, you’ll need to download the languages that you select.
- Tap Continue.
- Tap Start.
