How to use WhatsApp on Ray-Ban Stories and Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses

Ray-Ban Stories and Ray-Ban Meta are smart glasses launched in partnership between Meta and EssilorLuxottica.

You can use these smart glasses with some Meta platforms, including WhatsApp.

How to link WhatsApp

Use the Meta View app to connect Ray-Ban Stories and Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses to WhatsApp on your phone. Full details are available on the Meta Hulpcentrum.

Ray-Ban Verhalen

You can use the hands-free voice commands on Ray-Ban Stories to send and reply to messages and to decline and answer calls.

The voice commands can also announce when you receive messages and read them out loud in English, French and Italian.

You can activate voice commands by saying “Hey Facebook” and speaking your command.

For example, “Hey Facebook, send a message to Anna on WhatsApp.”

Ray-Ban Meta

You can complete even more actions with Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.

You can use hands-free voice commands to send and reply to messages and to decline and answer calls. You can also use it to share photos.

Voice commands can also announce when you receive messages and read them out loud in English, French and Italian.

You can activate voice commands by saying “Hey Meta” and speaking your command.

For example, “Hey Meta, send a photo to John on WhatsApp.”

You can also share your view from your glasses camera during a WhatsApp audio or video call. You can do this by double tapping the physical capture button on glasses during a call.

You can use this feature even if you haven’t linked WhatsApp in the Meta View app. To enable sharing your view, tap the glasses icon during your next video call for instructions.

About your privacy

When you use WhatsApp on Ray-Ban Stories or Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, your calls and personal messages are secured with end-to-end encryption. To protect your privacy, as soon as it’s identified that you’re sending a message or making a call, audio content is not sent to Meta servers. Various factors can affect accuracy, such as the clarity of your voice command that indicates the start of a message. No one outside of your chats, not even WhatsApp or Meta, can read or listen to them.

How to link and unlink WhatsApp

Link WhatsApp to Ray-Ban Meta

  1. Open the Meta View app on your phone.
  2. Tik op Settings.
  3. Tik op Bellen en berichten sturen
  4. Or tap your glasses, then tap Bellen en berichten sturen.
  5. Tik op Maak verbinding met naast WhatsApp.

Unlink WhatsApp from Meta View on Ray-Ban Meta

  1. Open the Meta View app on your phone.
  2. Tik op Settings.
  3. Tik op Bellen en berichten sturen
  4. Or tap your glasses, then tap Bellen en berichten sturen.
  5. Tik op WhatsAppen tik vervolgens op Ontkoppelen.

How to use WhatsApp features

Send a text-based message

  1. Say “Hey Meta, send a message to [name] on WhatsApp”.
  2. Listen and confirm with Meta Assistant that you’ve selected the correct person.
  3. Say the message that you want to send.
  4. Opmerking: Your device will read your message back to you.
  5. Say “Yes”, “No”of “Cancel”.

Send and receive a voice messages

You can send and listen to voice messages to keep connected with your loved ones and easily communicate on the go.

Make a call

To make a voice call, follow the steps in this article. You can also share your point of view while on a call.

Set up message announcement and read out

You can use Meta Assistant to announce who’s messaging you and to read out your messages.

  1. Open the Meta View app on your phone.
  2. Tap your profile photo.
  3. Tik op Bellen en berichten sturen.
  4. Or tap your glasses, then tap Bellen en berichten sturen.
  5. Tik op WhatsApp, then turn Berichten aankondigen of Read out messages on or off.

Opmerking:

  • If you don’t hear message announcements when the toggle is on, make sure you’ve provided Bluetooth permission in your phone’s settings.
  • If you turn Read out messages on, you’ll still need to say “Hey Meta, play message” to play voice messages.

How to wear your Ray-Ban Meta glasses responsibly

Here are some tips to help you and those around you feel safe and comfortable while you’re wearing your glasses.

Respect people’s preferences

Not everyone loves being photographed. Stop recording if anyone expresses that they would rather opt out, and be particularly mindful of others before going live.

Power off in private spaces

Turn off your glasses in sensitive spaces such as the doctor’s surgery, changing room, public toilets, school or place of worship.

Let that capture LED light shine

Show others how the capture LED works so they know when you’re recording. If the capture LED is covered, you’ll be notified to clear it before taking a photo or video or going live.

Be a good community member

Obey the law. Don’t use your glasses to engage in harmful activities such as harassment, infringing on privacy rights or capturing sensitive information such as pin codes.

Keep your eyes on the road

Use caution when operating a motor vehicle while wearing glasses, stay focused on driving.

Show others when you’re capturing

Be respectful of people nearby. Use your voice or a clear gesture when controlling your glasses to let them know that you’re about to capture, particularly before going live.

Hoe lang kan een Ray-Ban Meta bril video opnemen?

De standaard videolengte is 3 minuten, maar je kunt de standaardlengte korter maken in de Meta AI app. Videolengte wijzigen:

  • Tik in de Meta AI-app linksonder op het scherm.
  • Veeg naar beneden en tik op Apparaatinstellingen.
  • Als je meerdere apparaten hebt gekoppeld met de Meta AI app, veeg dan naar links of rechts om het apparaat te selecteren waarvoor je de instellingen wilt aanpassen voordat je op Apparaatinstellingen tikt.
  • Tap Media.
  • Tik op Videolengte.
  • Tik op de gewenste instelling voor de videolengte.

Kun je foto's maken met een AI-bril?

Je kunt eenvoudig foto's en video's maken met de Ray-Ban Meta bril. Om een foto te maken, druk je op de vastlegknop op het montuur van je bril of gebruik je stembediening ("Hey Meta, neem een foto"). Voor video houd je de vastlegknop ingedrukt of zeg je "Hé Meta, maak een video". Als je een foto of video maakt, gaat het LED-lampje branden om aan te geven dat je aan het opnemen bent. De camera op je bril past zich automatisch aan je omgeving aan voor foto- en video-opnames van constante hoge kwaliteit.

Hoe kan ik Meta live vertalen?

Zo begin je met live vertalen:

  • Zeg gewoon "Hey Meta, start live vertaling". Je kunt de taal selecteren in de Meta AI-app.
  • Je kunt ook live vertaling starten vanuit de Meta AI app door linksonder in het scherm te tikken:
  • Tik op Vertalen.
  • Tik om de talen te selecteren die je wilt vertalen.
  • De eerste keer dat je live vertalingen gebruikt, moet je de talen die je selecteert downloaden.
  • Tik op Doorgaan.
  • Tik op Start.

Je hoort een belsignaal op je bril om je te laten weten dat de live vertaling is begonnen.
