What does frame size mean?

The most important dimension is the hinge-to-hinge width – the distance between the inner hinges of the glasses.
This determines how the frame will fit your face.

Measured from hinge to hinge – the key dimension for a proper fit.

How to find your size

If you already own glasses that fit well, use a ruler to measure the hinge-to-hinge width and compare it with the sizes above.
A difference of ±4 mm is generally still comfortable.

Other numbers explained

Inside the arm (temple) of most glasses, you’ll find a series of numbers printed or engraved.
These typically show:

  • Lens width (in mm)
  • Bridge width (distance between lenses)
  • Temple length (arm length)

Model code, lens width, bridge width, and temple length — printed on the inside of the frame.

Example

A marking like 52▢18 140 means:

  • Lens width = 52 mm
  • Bridge width = 18 mm
  • Temple length = 140 mm
