Location permission is required on certain Android versions and iOS mobile devices in order to connect the glasses with the Meta AI mobile app using Wi-Fi for features such as media import and glasses updates.

Location permission is required to connect to your glasses using Wi-Fi on certain Android versions and iOS mobile devices in order to use Meta AI mobile app features such as media import and glasses updates.

If you allow the Meta AI mobile app “always allow” location permission access, location data from your phone can be used to enhance your experience when you are using your glasses, even without having your phone screen on and the Meta AI mobile app open.

Control your privacy with Ray-Ban Meta glasses

You can view and manage your privacy settings, such as voice activity log and cloud media processing, in the Meta AI mobile app.

To view and manage your privacy settings:

    • If you have multiple devices paired with the Meta AI mobile app, swipe left or right to select the device you want to adjust settings for before tapping .
  3. Swipe down and tap Glasses privacy.

How to unpair Ray-Ban Stories from the Meta AI mobile app

If you unpair your Ray-Ban Stories from the Meta AI mobile, you’ll stay logged in to your Meta account and you’ll still have access to your previously imported photos and videos. Unpairing your Ray-Ban Stories will remove them from the app’s memory, which will cause certain features, such as viewing your battery’s charge, to not work; however, unpairing your Ray-Ban Stories will not change or erase any settings.

To unpair your Ray-Ban Stories:

  2. Tap .
    • If you have multiple devices paired with the Meta AI mobile app, swipe left or right to select your Ray-Ban Stories before tapping .
  3. Tap General.
  4. Tap Unpair glasses.
  5. Tap Unpair.

In order to pair your glasses with a new Meta account, you’ll need to factory reset your glasses. When you factory reset, you permanently erase all captures on your glasses that have not been imported.

To perform a factory reset:

  1. Make sure that the glasses are on and ready, which means no blinking LEDs.
  2. Slide and hold the power switch all of the way to the right while you press and hold the capture button.
  3. When the notification LED turns solid orange, first release the capture button followed by the power switch.
  4. Factory reset is complete when the notification LED turns off.

How to call and message on Ray-Ban Stories

With Ray-Ban Stories, you can connect Messenger, WhatsApp and your iPhone or Android phone with the Meta AI mobile app to make calls and send messages using voice controls. Your glasses can also announce when you get messages and read them aloud.

To connect your Messenger, WhatsApp or your phone to the Meta AI mobile app:

  2. Tap .
  3. Tap Calling and messaging.
  4. Tap Connect next to one of the providers

To send a message:

  1. With your glasses on say, “Hey Meta, send a message to [name]”.
    • To use a specific provider (e.g. WhatsApp), say “Hey Facebook, message [name] on WhatsApp”.
  2. Listen and confirm that you’ve selected the correct person.
  3. Say the message that you want to send. Your device will read your message back to you to make sure that it’s correct.
  4. From here, you can say, “Yes”, “No”, or “Cancel”.

To make a call:

  1. With your glasses on say, “Hey Meta, call [name]”.
  2. To use a specific provider (e.g. WhatsApp), say “Hey Meta, call [name] on WhatsApp”.
  3. Listen and confirm that you’ve selected the correct person.
  4. After you’ve confirmed, the call will start connecting.
  5. When you’ve finished with the call, you can hang up from your phone.

Note: You can also answer or decline incoming calls by saying “Hey Facebook, answer” or “Hey Facebook, decline”.

To disconnect your Messenger, WhatsApp or phone from the Meta AI mobile app:

  2. Tap .
  3. Tap Calling and messaging.
  4. Tap the provider that you want to disconnect, then tap Disconnect.

Message announcement and readout

When you connect to a provider and have voice controls turned on, your glasses can announce who’s messaging you and also read your messages aloud.

To set up message announcement and read out:

  3. Tap Calling and messaging.
  4. Tap your phone, Messenger or WhatsApp, then tap the toggle next to Announce messages vagy Automatic message readout to turn these features on or off.

Notes:

  • If you don’t hear message announcements when the toggle is on, make sure that you’ve provided Bluetooth permission in your phone’s settings for the provider app.
  • When vanish mode is enabled on Messenger, your glasses won’t be able to read your messages aloud.
  • Wireless carrier charges may apply if you connect your glasses to your iPhone or Android phone.
  • When you choose to connect your iPhone or Android phone to your glasses, you’ll be asked for permission to access your phone contacts, so you can make hands-free calls from your phone with your glasses. Phone numbers and contact history will stay on your devices and will not be shared with Meta servers.
  • If your phone is a dual SIM device, then your phone’s default SIM will be used to make hands-free calls when connected to the Meta AI mobile app.

Important information about making emergency calls using Ray-Ban Stories

  • Emergency calls (e.g. 911 in the US) must be initiated from your mobile device.
  • If you have connected your glasses to your iPhone or Android phone, please review your carrier’s emergency calling information to understand any limitations.

Set up a Meta account for Ray-Ban Stories

For existing Ray-Ban Stories users

If you currently use your Facebook account to access your Ray-Ban Stories, you will need to set up a Meta account to continue using your device. If you already have a Meta account, you can enter your login details to continue using your device.

To set up a Meta account if you currently use a Facebook account to access your device:

  1. Open the Meta AI mobile app on your phone and follow the on-screen instructions.

For new Ray-Ban Stories users

If you’re a new Ray-Ban Stories user, you can set up your Meta account using your email, Instagram account or Facebook account.

To set up a Meta account as a new user:

  1. Open the Meta AI mobile app on your phone and follow the on-screen instructions.

Setting up your Meta account with email

To set up a Meta account using your email address, you will need to provide:

  • Email: You can only create one Meta account per email address.
  • First and last name: We recommend using your real name in case you need to recover your account or manage your store purchases, but it is not required.
  • Birthday: You need to be at least 13 years old to sign up for a Meta account (14 if you live in South Korea or Spain). We use this information to help provide age-appropriate experiences for the youngest members of our community.
  • Password: This must be at least 8 characters. Avoid passwords that someone could easily guess.

After setting up your Meta account, you can add or remove this account from the same Accounts Center as your Facebook and Instagram accounts at any time.

Setting up your Meta account with Facebook and Instagram

When you create a Meta account with Facebook or Instagram, your Meta account will be added to the same Accounts Center as your Facebook or Instagram account. You can always choose to remove accounts from the same Accounts Center.

How to log out of the Meta AI mobile app

When you log out of the Meta AI mobile app, any devices that you have paired to the app will be unpaired.

To log out of the Meta AI mobile app:

  1. A Meta AI mobilalkalmazásban koppintson a  in the top right.
  2. Tap Log out, then tap Log out again to confirm.

If you log back in to the Meta AI mobile app, you will need to pair your devices again.

Get back into your Meta account if it’s disabled or restricted

This article has information for getting back into your Meta account. Visit the Facebook Help Centre vagy Instagram Help Centre for help with those accounts.

If your account hasn’t followed our Code of Conduct for Virtual ExperiencesSupplemental Meta Platforms Technologies Terms of Service or the Meta Terms of Service, it may be disabled or restricted.

If your Meta account is disabled or restricted, you’ll see a message telling you when you try to log in.

You may be able to request a download of your Meta account information by following the instructions on the notification screen.

What to do if you think your account was disabled or restricted by mistake

If you think your account was disabled or restricted by mistake, you may be able to ask us to review the decision. After logging in, follow the on-screen instructions to submit your appeal.

If you do not appeal within the specified time, you will no longer be able to request a review of your account.

Bear in mind that in some cases we may not issue a warning before restricting your account. We also can’t restore accounts that were disabled for severe violations.

What to do if you don’t see a notification

If you can’t see a notification telling you that your account was disabled or restricted, you may be experiencing a login issue.

If you’re having trouble logging in, you can learn how to do things such as reset your password vagy manage the email address associated with your account.

If your account was deleted by you or someone with your password, you can cancel the deletion request within 30 days. Learn how to cancel your Meta account deletion.

How media storage works with Ray-Ban Meta glasses and the Meta AI mobile app

Before importing media

When you capture photos and videos with your Ray-Ban Meta glasses, your media is stored on your glasses until you import them into the Meta AI mobile app. During import, while your media is being transferred from your glasses to your phone, media is temporarily stored as part of the Meta AI mobile app in a cache. The cache will automatically clear itself shortly after importing, and you can manually clear the cache in Device settings.

To clear your Meta AI mobile app cache:

  1. A Meta AI mobilalkalmazásban koppintson a  in the bottom-right.
  2. Tap .
    • If you have multiple devices paired with the Meta AI mobile app, swipe left or right to select the device you want to adjust settings for before tapping .
  3. Tap Media.
  4. Tap Clear cache.
  5. Tap Clear cache again to confirm.

After importing media

Media will be removed from your glasses and saved to your phone’s photos app after importing. Media in the Meta AI mobile app Gallery will be displayed by accessing your phone’s photo app with your permission.

Edits made to media in the Meta AI mobile app are also made to the media stored on your phone’s photo app. Deleting media from the Meta AI mobile app deletes the media from your phone’s photo app. If you delete media from your phone’s photo app, or revoke permission for Meta AI to access your phone’s photo app, media will not appear in the Gallery.
